How to Afford to Keep Your Home
Foreclosures are at an all time high. Many stand to lose a home they have not only grown to love but have paid dearly for. Is there anything the average American can do to once again afford their home?
Why am I Losing My Home?
There are many reasons why today’s individuals are losing their beloved homes. Topping the list, of course, is one of America’s worst economic issues; job loss. But there can be extenuating circumstances; excessive debt in other areas, a sudden death in the family (if you think it’s expensive to live in America, check out the bill for a funeral and burial sometime), divorce, medical emergencies and exorbitant home repairs are only the tip of the iceberg and that can sink your financial ship (hopefully more stable than the Titanic). Thing is, it may not even be your fault. The bank, however, doesn’t care. They want their money and they’re going to get…One way or another.
Does Anyone Really Care?
There are plenty of organizations out there that, at least, claim to. I checked out a few and they have some pretty good tips, albeit obvious ones; but they’re willing to help and that’s rare nowadays.
- This site lists eight ways to possibly stop foreclosure on your home;
- Know Your Options offers an interactive video entitled “Wayhome” in which you play the part of a homeowner faced with crucial decisions (sounds frighteningly realistic);
- Stop Foreclosure Fast states that “virtually any foreclosure situation can be successfully resolved.” Wow!
Foreclosure, when I was young, wasn’t something that ran as rampant as it does today. The web sites listed above know only too well the effects it can have on individuals. Were I in dire straits I might at least, give them a try. What have you got to lose…? I know: your house.
